Itinerary
Day 1 – Port-au-Prince
- Airport pick-up.
- Drive through the Bois Verna district, there are still many Gingerbread Houses around here, the most famous houses in the city.
- Champs de Mars, central square of the city. Here you see a lot of people walking around or selling things.
- National Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral. Both buildings were severely damaged during the earthquake in 2010 and are now no longer in use.
- Unknown Slave statue, the most important statue for Haitians, as it stands for the country’s war of independence.
- Statues of the first Emperor, first King and Columbus.
- Historical Pantheon Museum, the national museum of Haiti.
- St Trinity Episcopal Church.
- Drive through Petionville, the upperclass neighbourhood of PauP.
- We visit the area of Jalousie, a colorful neighborhood, right next to Petionville.
- Artists Rezistans, a place for voodoo artists using recycled stuff.
- Explore a local voodoo market.
- Overnight stay in Port-au-Prince.
Day 2 – Port-au-Prince
- Drive to the mountain area surrounding Port-au-Prince, from here you’ll have a great view over the city.
- First stop is Boutillier, from this neighbourhood you can see Port-au-Prince and the port. In Boutillier are several craft shops were you’ll find amazing local products.
- Self Help Shop Kenscoff, a market village in the mountains around the city where many people sell homemade goods.
- Fort Jacques, a 200 year old fort built at the time of independence.
- Drive all the way to the mountain top of Furcy, one of the highest points of the country.
- Return to Port-au-Prince.
- Overnight stay in Port-au-Prince.
Day 3 – Port-au-Prince – Cap-Haïtien
- Flight to Cap-Haïtien.
- Upon arrival we’ll start with our city tour of the second biggest city of the country.
- Walking tour of the old town of Cap-Haïtien, which will include the Notre Dame and Heros de Vertieres Monument.
- Overnight stay in Cap-Haïtien
Day 4 – Cap-Haïtien – Milot
- Visit Vertières – the site of the resounding battle against the French.
- Drive to Milot.
- We visit the Sans Souci Palace. This palace was the royal residence at the time of Haiti’s independence.
- Walk to the Citadelle LaFerriere, Haiti’s most famous fortress. From here you have a beautiful view over the surroundings. This UNESCO fortress was built to protect against the French.
- Lakou Lakay – here we will watch a voodoo dance show.
- Overnight stay in Cap-Haïtien.
Day 5 – Cap-Haïtien – Labadie
- Boat to the beaches of Labadie.
- Visit the small island of Amiga.
- Relax on the beach with a barbecue.
- Overnight stay in Cap-Haïtien.
Day 6 – Cap-Haïtien
- Airport drop off.
- End of the tour.
