Great news for travelers looking to visit Turkmenistan in 2023! The State Migration Service of Turkmenistan has resumed accepting documents for issuing invitations (LOI) for tourist visas after a three-year pause, effective from March 13, 2023. How long does it take to get the Turkmenistan visa?

The visa documents need to be submitted at least 4 weeks before the start of your tour.

When can I book my flight to Turkmenistan?

Once an invitation (LOI) is issued, travelers can obtain a visa upon arrival. At that moment you can make all necessary bookings for your trip to Turkmenistan, including booking any flights.

Can I enter Turkmenistan by land border crossing?

Yes, the land borders with Iran and Uzbekistan are open for tourists. The border with Afghanistan is not open for tourists. The Caspian Sea Ferry between Baku (Azerbaijan) and Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) is currently suspended.

How much does a Turkmenistan Visa cost?

The follow costs are involved with getting the Turkmenistan visa.
– Arrival by air:
UK nationals (up to 10 days duration) – 115 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee
All other nationals (up to 10 days duration) – 85 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee
UK nationals (11-20 days duration) – 145 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee
All other nationals (11-20 days duration) – 105 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee
– Arrival by land border:
UK nationals (up to 10 days duration) – 85 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee
All other nationals (up to 10 days duration) – 55 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee
UK nationals (11-20 days duration) – 115 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee
All other nationals (11-20 days duration) – 75 USD per person + 4 USD administration fee

Note that the cost of the visa at Turkmenistan Embassies abroad is unknown at this time. Additionally, LOI’s do not indicate where the visa must be picked up. Each person listed on the LOI can pick up their visa at a location of their choice.
