If you are planning to travel to Pakistan, it is important to be aware of a recent change in the visa policy. From January 1st 2026, Pakistan has suspended the Visa on Arrival (VOA) system for most nationalities. Most travellers must now apply for a Pakistan e-Visa before departure.
What has changed?
As of January 2026, the visa rules for Pakistan have been updated:
- Visa on Arrival is no longer available for most nationalities
- Travelers must apply for an e-Visa online in advance
- Applications must be submitted through the official government portal
Note: Citizens of Gulf countries will still receive a visa on arrival.

Who needs to apply for a Pakistan E-Visa?
Most international travellers, including tourists, business visitors, and those visiting family, are required to apply for a visa before traveling to Pakistan. Even if you were eligible for easier visa options in 2024 or 2025, you should check the current requirements before booking your trip.
How to apply for a Pakistan E-Visa
Step 1: Check if your passport is valid for at least six months after arrival.
Step 2: Complete the online application form on the official website.
Step 3: Upload a digital passport photo (white background and no glasses).
Step 4: Upload a Letter of Invitation (LOI) document (we will send you this).
Step 5: Pay for your visa by debit or credit card.
Step 6: Your e-visa and all updates will be sent to your email.
