At CultureRoad, travel is not just about discovering new places; it’s an opportunity to make a difference. That’s why we support the Outliers Secondary School (OLSS) in Minawar, Pakistan. This project provides vulnerable girls with access to free education in an area where schooling for girls has long been out of reach. With financial support and the opportunity for you to volunteer for a day, we are helping this inspiring school continue its mission.
About Outliers Secondary School in Minawar
Founded in 2010, the Outliers Secondary School offers free education to girls who otherwise would have little or no access to schooling in their remote community. Since its opening, OLSS has given hundreds of girls the chance to learn, expand their horizons, and build a better future.
The work of OLSS is visible in its inspiring results. Where girls in Minawar once had little chance to study, three OLSS students have now even transitioned to Karakoram University. This achievement reflects the impact of education on the community and shows how every contribution – big or small – can make a world of difference. CultureRoad supports this progress and believes that every trip, donation, or day of volunteering contributes to this cause.
Most of the students at OLSS come from families with limited resources. Many of them can only afford to pay 20-30% of the school fees. Support from donors around the world helps cover the gap, allowing the school to continue to operate and grow. OLSS’s mission extends beyond secondary education – its goal is to empower young women to improve themselves and their community.
From School to University
OLSS has come a long way. From a modest beginning in makeshift classrooms, it has grown into a fully-fledged secondary school with essential facilities, including a library and a science lab. However, resources remain limited, and together with cultural barriers, they still prevent most students from continuing their education after high school.
To address this, OLSS plans to build a university in Minawar. This university will give high school graduates the chance to continue their studies and eventually give back to their community. The project will offer affordable tuition to those who can pay, while a donation-based sponsorship program will support students who cannot afford education. The college will be more than just a school; it will be a step towards changing the perception of women’s education in the region.
