Where is Socotra island?

Socotra is a small island located in the Yemeni Strait in the middle of the Indian Ocean, close to the Gulf of Aden. While the island is part of Yemen, it sits closer to the coast of Somalia.

How to get to Socotra?

Well, it’s not as simple as booking a round-trip ticket from Amsterdam to Paris, but that’s part of the adventure! There are several ways to reach Socotra island, and it requires a bit of experience. Attempting to plan a trip to Socotra by yourself can make it quite obvious why this is considered a hard-to-reach destination. Don’t worry though, we’re here to help with booking flights from Abu Dhabi or Cairo to the island. The flights operate year-round, two to three times a week. Just keep in mind that it’s hurricane season from May to September, and bad weather may cause delays or cancellations. We recommend traveling between October and April for the best experience.

Shuaab Beach

Shoab beach (or Shuab beach) is a stunning white sand beach along bright blue water – a true paradise! This beach is not accessible by road, but can be reached by fishing boat from Qalansiya. During this boat ride you will likely see playful dolphins swimming alongside the boat. Once you arrive you can hike the mountain behind the beach, go for a swim, or stroll along the 5 kilometres of pristine virgin beach.

Arher beach

Arher beach is the breathtaking spot where fresh and saltwater meet. It is known for its towering white sand dunes, some of the highest on the island. Like much of the island, this is a nature photographer’s paradise.
