Itinerary

Day 1 – Malabo

Arrival at Malabo International Airport, where you’ll be welcomed by your local guide and transferred to your hotel.

After some time to settle in, we’ll head into the historic centre of Malabo for our first introduction to Equatorial Guinea. As we stroll through the city, we’ll discover its remarkable Spanish colonial heritage, elegant architecture, and broad avenues that reflect its unique past.

We’ll visit Independence Square, admire the impressive Malabo Cathedral, pass the Presidential Palace (viewed from the outside), and explore several of the city’s most notable colonial landmarks, including the National Library, the Green House, and the Guinean Cultural Centre. We’ll also enjoy a walk along the waterfront, overlooking the Gulf of Guinea.

Day 2 – Malabo – Ureka – Malabo

This morning we’ll leave Malabo behind and drive across the lush volcanic landscapes of Bioko Island towards the remote village of Ureka, one of Equatorial Guinea’s most spectacular natural areas.

Our day is dedicated to exploring the island’s pristine rainforest and dramatic coastline. We’ll hike through the tropical forest to the secluded Moaba Beach, where the black volcanic sand and crashing Atlantic waves create an unforgettable setting. Along the way, we’ll visit several beautiful waterfalls hidden within the jungle, offering a refreshing break surrounded by untouched nature.

In the afternoon, we’ll make our way back to Malabo.

Day 3 – Malabo – Rebola – Bososo – Baney – Riaba – Moka – Luba

Today we’ll set out on a full-day journey around Bioko Island, exploring its cultural heritage, colonial history, and spectacular volcanic landscapes.

Our first stop is Rebola, one of the island’s oldest settlements, where we’ll learn more about the traditions and history of the Bubi people. We then continue to the small village of Bososo, offering a glimpse into everyday life on Bioko Island.

Following the scenic coastal road, we’ll visit Baney, a charming town with a rich colonial past, before continuing inland to Riaba. Here we’ll explore the historic Hacienda Marcos Obiang, a former plantation estate that reflects the island’s agricultural history.

In the cool highlands of Moka, we’ll visit the Biodiversity Protection Centre, where we’ll learn about the conservation of Bioko Island’s unique wildlife and ecosystems. Finally, we’ll continue to Luba, a picturesque town on the southern coast surrounded by lush rainforest and volcanic scenery, before returning to Malabo.

Day 4 – Malabo – Basile Peak – Malabo

This morning we’ll drive to the summit of Pico Basilé, the highest mountain in Equatorial Guinea at 3,011 metres. Forming part of the volcanic chain that shaped Bioko Island, the peak offers spectacular panoramic views over the island and, on clear days, across the Gulf of Guinea towards the coast of Cameroon.

After taking in the breathtaking scenery, we’ll descend the mountain and transfer to Malabo International Airport for your onward flight.
