Itinerary
Day 1 – Ashgabat
- Arrive to Ashgabat.
- Airport pick-up and introduction to your local guide.
- Start your Ashgabat city tour.
- Highlight: Stroll around Independence Park, the symbol of modern Turkmenistan. Check out the Independence Monument, an impressive monument inspired by the old Turkmen tents.
- Visit the Monument of the Constitution, a 185m high tower.
- Visit Gate of Neutrality, an absurd monument with a golden statue of former President Niyazov.
- Head to Lenin Park, here you will find another statue of Lenin.
- Marvel at Erogrul Ghazi Mosque, a famous mosque named after the leader of the Ottoman Empire.
- Visit Alem Business Centre with the largest indoor ferris wheel in the world.
- Head to the Palace of Happiness for a panoramic view of the city.
- Overnight stay in Ashgabat.
Day 2 – Ashgabat – Nisa – Kow Ata – Ashgabat
- Highlight: Visit Nisa, a fascinating UNESCO world heritage site.
- Explore the Turkmenbashy Mosque / Mausoleum, here lies the former president of Turkmenistan.
- Drive to Kow Ata.
- Swim in a natural hot spring, deep in a cave.
- Visit Geok Depe Mosque, an impressive mosque founded by the former president Turkmenbashy.
- Head back to Ashgabat.
- Overnight stay in Ashgabat.
Day 3 – Ashgabat – Darvaza
- Sunday Bazaar (Thursday, Saturday, Sunday only), a perfect place for photos.
- Learn about the art of Akhalteke Horse Breeding, horses are very important in Turkmenistan and they proudly show you all about it.
- Visit Anau Fort, the history of this place goes back 7,000 years.
- Drive to Darvaza.
- Visit the water crater and mud crater.
- Highlight: Arrival at the famous fire crater, also known as the Gates of Hell. A natural gas field that has been burning continuously since it was set on fire in the 1970s.
- Walk through the sand dunes around the crater.
- Enjoy Sunset at the crater.
- Barbecue and overnight stay in tents near the Gates of Hell.
Day 4 – Darvaza – Dashoguz – Shavat Border Point
- Drive to Dashoguz.
- En route visit to Izmukshir fortress and al-Zamakshari Mausoleum.
- Reach the border crossing with Uzbekistan at Shavat.
- End of tour.
