Itinerary

* Please note: the following itinerary applies to group tours to Socotra starting from October 2025 onwards, for group tours to Socotra prior to this date check this itinerary.

Day 1 – Abu Dhabi (UAE) – Hadibu – Ayhaft Canyon National Park – Delisha Beach

• 6:00 a.m.: Meet the group at Abu Dhabi International Airport for check-in at the Air Arabia counter.
• 9:00 a.m.: Depart for Socotra, Yemen.
• 10:20 a.m.: Arrive in Hadibu, Socotra, where we’ll be greeted by our local guide, who will accompany us for the entire adventure.
• Head to Ayhaft Canyon National Park for a refreshing introduction to Socotra’s unique nature. We’ll take a short walk among stunning landscapes of rare plant and animal life.
• After settling into our hotel in Hadibu, we’ll visit Delisha Beach to swim in the sea or the lagoon, stroll along the beach, or relax with the view of passing ships as we watch the sunset over the water.
• Overnight: Comfortable hotel stay in Hadibu.

Day 2 – Homhil National Park – Arher

• After breakfast, we’ll set out for Homhil National Park, home to the legendary dragon blood and bottle trees. We’ll hike to a natural “infinity pool” with sweeping views of southern Socotra, and enjoy a scenic picnic lunch.
• For the adventurous, an optional hike leads down to the beach on foot, while others may ride to the beach by car.
• A short drive takes us to Arher Beach, where fresh and saltwater meet. We’ll set up camp on the beach, and you’ll have the chance to climb a towering 300-metre sand dune for a spectacular view.
• Dinner & Overnight: Camping under the stars at Arher Beach.

Day 3 – Arher – Hoq’s Cave / Raw Ersil – Dihamri Marine Protected Area

• After breakfast, choose between two exciting excursions:
• A four-hour hike to Hoq’s Cave, one of Socotra’s most remarkable sites, for an unforgettable exploration.
• A drive to Raw Ersil, where the Arabian Sea meets the Indian Ocean, followed by a scenic walk back to camp.
• In the afternoon, we’ll visit Dihamri Marine Protected Area. Although not known for its beach, Dihamri boasts incredible biodiversity, making it perfect for snorkelling or diving (equipment available for rent).
• Freshly caught fish will be served for dinner.
• Overnight: Dihamri campsite.

Day 4 – Dixsam Plateau – Dihamri

• Highlight: Today, we explore the Dixsam Plateau, the famous habitat of Socotra’s unique dragon blood trees. This is a paradise for bird watchers, with rare species to spot.
• On the way, we’ll stop for scenic photos, including Shehahon’s Viewpoint, before enjoying lunch on the plateau.
• A short walk awaits at Wadi Derhur to admire its breathtaking views.
• We’ll also visit the entrance of Fermahin Forest, the largest dragon blood tree forest on the island.
• Dinner & Overnight: Camping in the magical landscape of Dixsam.

Day 5 – Dixsam – Zahek & Hayf – Dagub – Amak Beach

• Begin the day with a village walk, including a visit to a local garden where efforts are underway to cultivate new dragon blood trees.
• We then drive to Nogud’s southern coast to explore the large, golden dunes of Zahek & Hayf and the beautiful beach of Amak. Take a refreshing dip or relax by the coast!
• We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in a shaded spot near Amak Beach or in a nearby cave, depending on the sun.
• Our next stop is Dagub Cave, a natural marvel with intriguing rock formations.
• Dinner & Overnight: Camping near Amak Beach, falling asleep to the sound of the waves.

Day 6 – Qalansiya – Shuaab – Detwah Lagoon

• Early morning, we’ll head to Qalansiya, Socotra’s second-largest town.
• Highlight: From here, we board a local fishing boat to Shuaab Beach, a pristine, remote shore often visited by dolphins. The boat ride itself offers stunning rock formations and coastal scenery.
• Relax on Shuaab, Socotra’s most beautiful beach, before we return to Qalansiya.
• We’ll end the day at Detwah Lagoon, known for its otherworldly landscape. After setting up camp, take a walk around this breathtaking natural reserve.
• Overnight: Eco-campsite by the lagoon.

Day 7 – Hadibu City Tour

• We’ll drive back to Hadibu and spend the day immersing ourselves in the local culture and daily life in Socotra’s capital:
• Women’s Market & Spice Market: Explore vibrant stalls with local spices, crafts, and produce.
• Fish Market: Watch the bustling activity as fishermen bring in the day’s catch, ready for trade.
• Doormaker’s Workshop: Observe artisans crafting intricate doors—each one unique and symbolic of Middle Eastern craftsmanship.
• Local School: Visit a local school and perhaps participate in an English lesson or chat with students and teachers.
• Celebrate the last night of our adventure with a delicious farewell dinner.
• Overnight: Hotel stay in Hadibu.

Day 8 – Hadibu – Abu Dhabi

• We’ll return to Socotra’s airport for our departure flight.
• 11:50 a.m. Flight departs from Socotra, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 3:10 p.m.
• End of the tour.
