Itinerary
Day 1 – Lagos
- Arrival in Lagos, the biggest city in Africa and the center of Nigeria’s economy.
- Pick-up and transfer to the hotel.
- Overnight stay in Lagos.
Day 2 – Lagos
- We’ll visit Lekki Conservation Centre, home to Africa’s longest canopy walkway, and explore the rich wildlife, including monkeys, crocodiles, and a variety of birds.
- Discover the Nike Art Gallery and learn about Nigeria’s foremost artist, Nike Okundaye.
- Highlight: Explore Makoko Floating Village, a unique community in Lagos built on wooden stilts above the Lagos Lagoon. Often called the “Venice of Africa,” it is home to thousands of people, mainly fishermen and traders, who depend on the water for their daily lives.
- Overnight stay in Lagos.
Day 3 – Lagos – Abeokuta
- We’ll leave Lagos and drive to Abeokuta.
- Highlight: Visit Olumo Rock, a famous site that once served as a fortress for the Egba people during wars. You can climb the rock for great views, explore its caves, and learn about its cultural meaning.
- We’ll visit to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library. Here, you’ll learn about the life of the former president. From his youth and military career to his time as Nigeria’s leader (first as a military head of state from 1976–1979, and later as a democratically elected president from 1999–2007).
- We explore the Fetish Market, where you can see ingredients for amulets and potions, such as live chameleons and medicinal plants. While it might not be as big as in Benin, it’s still interesting to wander around between the market stalls.
- Return to Lagos.
- Overnight stay at Lagos.
Day 4 – Lagos
- Depending on your departure flight we might explore more of Lagos:
- Highlight: Visit the National Museum, an amazing place that shows and celebrates the cultural and ethnic diversity of Nigeria.
- We will take a tour around the New Afrika Shrine, this music club is situated on the original site of where afrobeat star Fela Kuti played for years, before the military destroyed the place.
- Check out the Kalakuta Republic Museum. Fela Kuti’s old home, which was also his base for activism, has been turned into a museum where everything remains just as he left it.
- See the Jaekal House, a two-story colonial house. The house used to belong to the general manager of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.
- Airport drop off.
- End of the tour.
