Day 1 – Dushanbe

  • Arrival in Dushanbe.
  • Airport pick-up.
  • Leisure time.
  • Overnight stay in Dushanbe.

Day 2 – Dushanbe – Kalaikhumb

  • We start our road trip towards Kalaikhumb.
  • Short stop at the monument in memory of the attack on cyclists in 2018.
  • Shurabad Pass (2200m).
  • Highlight: Short visit to the partly restored Hulbuk fortress.
  • Overnight stay in Kalaikhumb.

Day 3 – Kalaikhumb – Rushan

  • Drive to the Rushan region .
  • Highlight: Discover rural life in this area.
  • Overnight stay in Rushan.

Day 4 – Rushan – Geisev Valley – Khorog

  • You will be dropped off at the Bartang river, after which we will start our walk of about 8 km.
  • Highlight: Along the way you pass small villages with beautiful views of the Pamir mountains.
  • Arrival at the Three Mountain Lakes.
  • We are picked up by car.
  • Drive to Khorog.
  • Arrival in Khorog, one of the poorest areas of Tajikistan, but it used to be very important in the Soviet Union.
  • The highest botanical garden in the world.
  • Overnight stay in Khorog.

Day 5 – Khorog – Ishkashim

  • Highlight: Drive to Ishkashim, with a view of Afghanistan on the right.
  • Garmasma hot springs, a lot of people come here to relax for a while.
  • Overnight stay in Ishkashim.

Day 6 – Ishkashim – Vrang – Langar

  • Khahkha Fort, this old fort gives a view over the border with Afghanistan.
  • Yamchun Fort, an old fort that served to protect the Pamir route.
  • Highlight: Bibi Fatima natural hot springs.
  • Drive to Vrang.
  • Old caves where Buddhists used to live.
  • Overnight stay in Langar.

Day 7 – Langar – Keng Shiber

  • Drive to Keng Shiber.
  • Khargush Pass (4344m).
  • Highlight: You leave the Wakhan Valley and enter the deserted plateaus.
  • Akalk Lake, a beautiful deep blue lake.
  • Alimbek Datka Mausoleum, here lies a former leader from the region.
  • Highlight: Via a beautiful route you will arrive at your shepherd camp.
  • Experience what life is like in a shepherd’s camp and help with the daily activities.
  • Overnight stay in a yurt.

Day 8 – Keng Shiber

  • Drive to Lake Zorkul.
  • Highlight: Hike of 4/5 hours to the Bel Airyk Pass (4834m). A route Marco Polo once took as well.
  • At the pass you have a view of the northern side of the Hindu Kush and the beautiful Lake Zorkul.
  • Spot (hopefully) special animals like the Marco-Polo sheep, snow leopards, foxes and the brown bear.
  • Overnight stay in a yurt.

Day 9 – Keng Shiber – Murgab

  • Drive to Murgab.
  • Highlight: Tour of the village, with a.o.
  • Lenin statue.
  • Local market.
  • Overnight stay in Murghab.

Day 10 – Murgab

  • Drive to the nomadic village of Gumbezdykul in the Pyshart Valley.
  • Hike to the Pyshart Pass (4731m) and the Madian Valley. Here you are really far away from civilization.
  • Drive to Murgab.
  • Overnight stay in Murgab.

Day 11 – Murgab – Osh (Kyrgyzstan)

  • A long drive to Murgab and onwards to Osh in Kyrgyzstan.
  • Ak-Baital Pass (4655m).
  • Highlight: Short stop at Lake Karakul, a beautiful lake surrounded by high peaks.
  • Kyzyl Art Pass (4282m).
  • The border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
  • We leave the plateaus of the Pamir Mountains and pass grass fields and small villages.
  • Taldyk Pass (3554m).
  • Free time in Osh, you can go to the biggest mosque in Kyrgyzstan or the famous Lenin statue.
  • Overnight stay in Osh.

Day 12 – Osh – Khujand (Tajikistan)

  • Drive to the border with Tajikistan and then continue towards Khujand.
  • Arrival in Khujand, the second city of Tajikistan.
  • Local museum.
  • Highlight: Citadel of Khujand, this gigantic fortress in the middle of the city, comes from the 5thcentury BC.
  • Sheykh Muslihiddin Mosque, the most important mosque of the city, located in the historic centre.
  • Overnight stay in Khujand.

Day 13 – Khujand- Istaravashan – Iskandarkul

  • Short stop in Istaravshan, a museum village with a famous citadel
  • Drive to Iskandarkul, on the way we often stop for pictures.
  • Highlight: Arrival at Lake Iskandarkul.
  • Walk to the 40 meter high waterfall.
  • Overnight stay in a cabin by the lake.

Day 14 – Iskandarkul – Dushanbe

  • Highlight: We follow a beautiful route to Dushanbe, via all kinds of winding roads with beautiful views.
  • On the way we see the Zarafshan River and pass through the Anzob Pass (3372m).
  • After a short rest in the hotel in Dushanbe we go for a last evening walk.
  • Overnight stay in Dushanbe.

Day 15 – Dushanbe

  • Airport drop-off.
  • End of tour.
