7 days tour – Cultural Saudi Arabia

Welcome to Saudi Arabia, a country steeped in history and culture. During the tour, we will take you on a journey through the heart of the country, exploring its rich past and vibrant present. Our journey will begin in the capital city of Riyadh, where we will visit the famous Deira Souk and the historic Al Masmak Fort. We will then travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Al Diriyah, the birthplace of the Saudi Kingdom. From there, we will fly to Al Ula, where we will explore the ancient town and the stunning Madain Saleh (Hegra) landmark. We will also visit Ikma Mountain and the Elephant Rock (Jabal Al Fil). Next, we will fly to Jeddah, a progressive city located on the Red Sea. We will explore the old Ottoman houses in Al Balad, visit the House of Islamic Art Museum, and take a drive along the Corniche. Join us on this unforgettable journey through the heart of Saudi Arabia.

Itinerary

Day 1 (Sunday) – Riyadh

  • Arrival in the country’s capital: Riyadh.
  • Meet your guide. He will tell you more about the trip and the country.
  • Overnight stay in Riyadh.

Day 2 (Monday) – Riyadh

  • Highlight: Deira Souk, this market is known for its many copper products. You will also find traditional daggers and knives here.
  • Al Masmak Fort, an old building made of mud and clay. The fort was one of the most important places in the creation of present-day Saudi Arabia.
  • We leave Riyadh for a short drive to Al Diriyah, the former capital of the Najd region.
  • Al Diriyah is the birthplace of the Saudi Kingdom and has been listen as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a perfect example of Najdi architecture.
  • Return to Riyadh.
  • Overnight stay in Riyadh.

Day 3 (Tuesday) – Riyadh – Al Ula

  • Flight to Al Ula.
  • Upon arrival we’ll take a tour of the old town of Al Ula, a place where pilgrims, travellers and permanent settlers met throught the ages. The town was inhabited from the 12th Century until the early 1980s.
  • Overnight stay in Al Ula.

Day 4 (Wednesday) – Al Ula

  • Highlight: Visit to Madain Saleh (Hegra), the most famous landmark in Saudi Arabia. It looks similar to Petra in Jordan, as it was on the same caravan route.
  • Visit Dedan, Ikma Mountain, one of the most important archaeological sites in the area and known as the largest ‘open library’.
  • Discover two tombs, which are decorated with two carved lions.
  • Highlight: See the Elephant Rock (Jabal Al Fil).
  • Overnight stay in Al Ula.

Day 5 (Thursday) – Al Ula – Jeddah

  • Flight to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s most progressive city, located on the Red Sea.
  • Relaxed afternoon in Jeddah.
  • Overnight stay in Jeddah.

Day 6 (Friday) – Jeddah

  • Highlight: Walk through old Jeddah (Al Balad), where you can find many old Ottoman houses. Most of these houses are built of coral and reinforced with wood as the beams cross the inner walls.
  • Nasif House and Baashen House, the most famous houses from the Ottoman period.
  • Visit tbhe old gold market at Gabel Street and the Ukash Mosque.
  • Visit to the House of Islamic Art Museum.
  • Drive over the Corniche, the street along the Red Sea, see for example the floating mosque.
  • Overnight stay in Jeddah.

Day 7 (Saturday) – Jeddah

  • Airport drop off.
  • End of tour.
