Itinerary

Day 1 – Islamabad – Taxila

  • Pick up from the airport in the early morning.
  • Highlight: Day trip to Taxila. Here you can find the ruins of an old Greco Buddhist city.
  • Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque in Pakistan.
  • Walk to a viewpoint over Islamabad.
  • Overnight stay in Islamabad.

Day 2 – Islamabad – Chitral

  • In the morning we take a flight to Chitral. A region that is cut off from the rest of Pakistan six months a year.
  • Visit the Shahi Mosque, the most famous mosque in the region.
  • Highlight: Walk over to the local bazaar, a good spot for pictures.
  • Overnight stay in Chitral.

Day 3 – Chitral

  • Highlight: Immerse yourself for two days in the culture of the Kalasha valley. We spend the night at a local guesthouse, with local food and drinks (wine).
  • Overnight stay in the Kalasha Valley.

Day 4 – Chitral – Kalasha Valley

  • Highlight: Explore the villages of Rumbour and Bumboret in the valley and get to know the local culture of the Kalasha families.
  • Overnight stay in the Kalasha Valley.

Day 5 – Kalasha Valley – Chitral

  • Highlight: Depending on your preference we can go for a walk, a jeep ride or learn more about the local culture.
  • Overnight stay in Chitral.

Day 6 – Chitral – Mastuj

  • We start the trip to Gilgit. We will do this trip in three days, because of the long distances involved.
  • The first stage is from Chitral to Mastuj.
  • Overnight stay in Mastuj, a place with a few houses and beautiful views.

Day 7 – Mastuj – Phandur

  • We drive further through the Hindu Kush, passing the Shandur Pass at an altitude of 3700m.
  • On the way, we pass the highest polo field in the world. Polo is a very popular sport in Pakistan.
  • Highlight: We stop at Phandur Lake to relax from the ride.
  • Overnight stay in Phandur.

Day 8 – Phandur – Gilgit

  • Highlight: We continue to Gilgit via the Ghizer Valley, on the way we will make a stop in the mountain village of Gupus.
  • Arrival in Gilgit. The largest city in northern Pakistan. It is also the capital of the province of Gilgit Baltistan.
  • Overnight stay in Gilgit.

Day 9 – Gilgit – Hunza Valley

  • Drive to the Hunza Valley via the Karakoram Highway.
  • Highlight: We will stop several times to take pictures, e.g. Mt. Rakaposhi (7788m) and the Nagar Valley.
  • Visit to the 700 year old Baltit Fort.
  • Walk through Karkimabad.
  • Overnight stay in the Hunza Valley.

Day 10 – Hunza – Passu

  • We continue on the Karakoram Highway alongside the newly developed Attabad Lake.
  • Highlight: We stop in Passu for a walk on the famous rope bridge.
  • Short walk to the Passu glacier.
  • Drive back to the Hunza Valley.
  • Overnight stay in the Hunza Valley.

Day 11 – Hunza Valley

  • Highlight: We explore the Hunza Valley further. We will make a walk along the irrigation channels of the valley, along which we will have stunning views.
  • Learn more about the Hunza culture.
  • Visit to the Altit Fort.
  • Drive to the village of Duikar, where we will see the sunset.
  • Overnight stay in the Hunza Valley.

Day 12 – Hunza Valley – Naran

  • A long day of driving in the direction of Naran.
  • Highlight: On the way we pass the point where three mountain ranges meet, namely the Himalayas, Karakoram and Hindu Kush.
  • Via the Babasur Pass (4000m) we descend towards Naran in the Kaghan Valley.
  • Overnight stay in Naran.

Day 13 – Naran – Abottabad – Islamabad

  • We will continue for our final leg in the direction of Islamabad.
  • Tea stop in Abottabad, the place where Osama Bin Laden was murdered.
  • Around dinnertime we arrive in Islamabad.
  • Overnight stay in Islamabad.

Day 14 – Islamabad

  • Airport drop off.
  • End of tour.
